FAQ

Waxing Expand

If possible, please come freshly showered for your treatment. I do understand if you are coming straight from work, so wipes are available if you need them.

How long does my hair have to be? Expand

If you have been shaving, or have had a wax treatment, you need at least 4 weeks of hair regrowth.

What happens during your treatment? Expand

You will be asked to complete a simple waxing information questionnaire, which will mainly ask questions about your skin and health, whether you have any allergies, etc.

If all is ok with your skin and health, you will be asked to position yourself in the appropriate way to be waxed. So for example, for a back wax, you will be lying on your tummy with your head through the couch face hole.

Please note, that if you are having a Hi bikini, Brazilian, Hollywood or Bottom and crack wax, you will be asked to remove your underwear so that all the hairs could be removed effectively. Please be prepared to do so. Leaving your underwear on is time wasting and would be uncomfortable for you.

Does waxing hurt? Expand

It is uncomfortable for a short amount of time. It is a quick movement and each time the hair is removed the pain literally lasts for a few seconds – if any in some instances.

Some clients do take painkillers before their treatment. I am not qualified to advise whether you should or not, it is up to you.

Why should I wax? Expand

Your skin will feel smoother and your hair removal will last longer.

Waxing is the most effective hair removal, in comparison to home treatments like shaving, hair removal creams or epilation. Shaving causes razor burns, stubble and ingrown hairs. Whilst waxing removes the hairs from the roots. This results in the regrowth being sparser and thinner, especially if you maintain a regular waxing routine.

Reasons for waxing Expand

Waxing leaves the skin smoother and causes less irritation. You or your partner prefer the smooth look, you work out or play a lot of sports, or just for that smooth fresh feeling waxing gives.

The most popular waxing treatments Expand

Waxing has become best selling treatment, that there are no particular popular treatments! Even nostril waxing has become popular.

How long after my first appointment? Expand

In order to maintain a waxing routine, it is recommended that your appointments are done every 4-6 weeks. You will see better results with your hair reduction. Your appointments will also become easier for you to experience, as the hairs will become weaker and sparser.

Waxes used in the salon - Two types of waxes are used: Expand

Non Strip Wax (hot or hard wax) – has a thick consistency to shrink wrap your hair before removal. No strips are used.  This wax is used for delicate areas like eyebrows, lip & chin, nostril, underarms, bikini and for Brazilian waxing. Your eye brows will not feel and look as sensitive when non strip wax is used to reshape them.

Strip wax Tea tree based wax (warm wax) is a liquid wax which could be used on larger areas like arms, legs, back, chest etc.  Waxing strips are used to remove the hairs.  The tea tree helps to sooth the waxed area.

Strip wax is never used in the salon for Brazilian or any form of bikini waxing.

Aftercare Expand

This is important stuff, so please follow it carefully.

For 24 hours, do not swim, exercise, sit in the sun, have hot baths or showers.

Try to exfoliate at least twice a week with a very gentle scrub, mitt or body pouf net.

Do not rub the area too hard, as this will sensitise your skin. If you do not exfoliate, you are more prone to ingrown hairs because dry skin will stop the hairs from growing freely through.

Sometimes dark hair is more prone to ingrown hairs, but a rigid home routine will help to minimise this.

Moisturise the area to help keep the skin soft.

Aloe Vera and tea tree based products to soothe and moisturise the wax area are on sale for you to purchase at a reasonable price from the salon.
